“The novel’s premise is a fun one, and Noring displays the admirable ability, at every step of the way, to escalate the narrative far beyond the reader’s expectations” –
Kirkus Reviews captured a key dimension of HIDDEN
It’s a powerful and brilliantly written work — weaving together social patterns, emerging trends, and underlying tensions that point to a grim future – sadly already taking root in our present times. Congratulations on this outstanding book!

HIDDEN
HIDDEN is a psychologically intense and socially urgent novel set in a familiar but fractured city on the verge of civil war. When Saskia, a single mother, loses her home and partner under mysterious circumstances, she is forced underground, both literally and metaphorically, with her two children. What begins as a desperate search for safety becomes a descent into a secret world shaped by manipulation, coercion and rebellion.
As Saskia navigates life in the subterranean society, she is pulled into a cause that no one fully understands. Criminalized and exploited by a collapsing system, she learns to spy, steal and survive. But with each revelation, the lines between truth and propaganda begin to blur. Who controls the resistance? What is the real purpose of the cause? And how far is she willing to go to protect her children?
At its core, HIDDEN is a story about poverty, injustice, resistance and redemption. It is emotionally grounded and politically sharp, focused on characters struggling within hostile institutions where poverty is treated as a crime rather than a social failure.
The novel asks whether we are all capable of crossing legal and moral boundaries when survival is at stake. It challenges assumptions about justice, morality, and truth in a world where institutions have broken down and power is maintained through secrecy and information control. Saskia’s journey is not only one of resistance but of awakening. It reveals how ordinary people become dangerous when they begin to question the lies they are expected to live by.
HIDDEN combines political insight with intimate, character-driven storytelling. It is both a dystopian thriller and a raw portrait of a mother navigating collapse, set in a present-day urban reality that feels as urgent and familiar as today’s headlines.
